Pension tax relief
Pension tax relief means that part of the money you would have paid in income tax goes into your pension instead.
Also known as: tax relief on pensions, pension relief
Basic-rate relief is normally added automatically, either through your pay or by your provider. Higher and additional-rate taxpayers may be able to claim more through their tax return.
There are limits on how much you can pay in each year with tax relief. Check GOV.UK for current figures.
Free, impartial guidance is available from MoneyHelper and Pension Wise. Be wary of any unsolicited offers about your pension or investments.
