Editorial Policy
Money information needs to be right. This is the standard we hold ourselves to, and how you can hold us to it.

What we publish
MoneyBrink publishes plain-English guides on debt, budgeting and saving, credit, mortgages and property, insurance, and pensions and investing in the UK. Our job is to explain how things work and what your options are, so you can make better-informed decisions. We do not give personal advice and we do not tell anyone which product to buy.
How we research
We build every guide from primary and authoritative sources first. In order of preference, these are:
- legislation and official guidance on GOV.UK and legislation.gov.uk;
- regulators and public bodies, such as the Financial Conduct Authority, HMRC, the Bank of England, the Money and Pensions Service (MoneyHelper), the Insolvency Service and the Financial Ombudsman Service;
- established, independent charities and advice bodies, such as Citizens Advice, StepChange and National Debtline; and
- only then, other reputable published sources.
Where it helps the reader, guides list their sources at the bottom of the page.
How we write
- We use plain English and explain jargon the first time it appears.
- We state what applies to which part of the UK where the rules differ (for example, insolvency options in Scotland are different from those in England and Wales).
- We avoid fear, shame and hype. Money worries are stressful and our tone should never add to that.
- We separate facts from general suggestions, and we say clearly when something depends on your circumstances.
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help research and draft. All content is checked against the official sources above and edited before it is published, and it remains our responsibility.
How we keep guides up to date
Every guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when we know a rule, rate or threshold has changed, and we revisit our most-read pages regularly. If a page you are reading looks out of date, please tell us.
Independence and how the site is funded
- We do not sell financial products, and we do not receive commission or referral fees for recommending products.
- The site is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google and other advertising partners, are clearly labelled, and have no influence over what we write. We do not accept payment to write or change editorial content.
- Our business directory may show some listings as "Featured" or "Sponsored". Those labels mean the business has an enhanced listing. A listing, paid or not, is never a recommendation.
Corrections
If you think something on the site is wrong, unclear or out of date, email us at hello@moneybrink.com. We will check it against official sources and fix verified errors promptly.
Who is behind the guides
Guides are published by the MoneyBrink Editorial Team. Where a guide has been reviewed by a named professional, the page says so.
