Who we are
MoneyBrink ("we", "us") publishes free, general information about personal finance in the United Kingdom at moneybrink.com. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us about your data at hello@moneybrink.com.
What we collect and why
Browsing the website
Our hosting provider records technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. We use this for security, to keep the site running and to fix faults. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Analytics
If analytics is switched on, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and how people find them. This uses cookies or similar technologies and only runs if you accept analytics cookies. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Advertising
We may show ads served by Google AdSense and its advertising partners. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads, and, only if you consent, to personalise them. Google acts as an independent controller for that data. You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Our lawful basis is your consent.
Business directory accounts
If you register a business in our directory, we collect the information you give us (such as your email address, business name, contact details, regulatory information and listing content) to create and run your account and listing, to verify your business and to communicate with you about it. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the directory accurate and trustworthy. Listing content you choose to publish is visible to everyone.
Getting in touch
If you email us, we use your message and email address to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, including our website host, our database and authentication provider (Supabase), and, where enabled, Google (analytics and advertising). We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred, we rely on safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or addendum, or an adequacy decision, as appropriate.
How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for a short period for security. Directory account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of disputes or legal requirements. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry. Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting we choose in Google Analytics.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be told how your data is used, and to ask for a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask for your data to be deleted, in some circumstances;
- object to or restrict some uses of your data;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it; and
- receive certain data in a portable format.
To use any of these rights, email hello@moneybrink.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies we and our partners use and how to change your choices.
Children
MoneyBrink is aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
