Auto-enrolment

Auto-enrolment is the law requiring employers to enrol eligible workers into a workplace pension and contribute to it.

Also known as: automatic enrolment, auto enrolment

You are usually enrolled if you are between 22 and State Pension age and earn above a set trigger. You can opt out, but you would lose the employer contribution and tax relief.

Minimum total contributions are currently 8% of qualifying earnings, with at least 3% from the employer.

Free, impartial guidance is available from MoneyHelper and Pension Wise. Be wary of any unsolicited offers about your pension or investments.
