Charging order
A charging order is a court order that secures a debt against your property, so the creditor may be paid when the property is sold.
Also known as: charging orders
A creditor with a county court judgment can apply for a charging order over a property you own. It does not usually force an immediate sale, but it can be followed by an order for sale in some cases, and interest continues to build up.
If you receive court papers about a charging order, respond promptly and get advice. A debt adviser may be able to help you negotiate or challenge the order.
